oNe Northwestern

why?

We ask ourselves what going to Northwestern means. We wonder what our commonalities are. We search for something more than attending the same school. We struggle because we don’t have a definite answer. What is it to link us together? Google has simple technological innovation. Moslems have Mohammed the Prophet. Christians have Jesus. America has freedom & democracy.

What is it that Northwestern has?

I don’t know. It might be 2am BK. It might be collectively hating the cold. It might be a North-South rivalry. It might be a color. I. Don’t. Know.

What’s really important, though, what we really have, is that we ask the question. We keep the dialogue open. We question ourselves and our purple brothers and sisters beside us.

And we don’t give up. We keep wondering, asking, searching, discovering. We don’t have all the answers, but we open our minds and our hearts to these tough questions. We can’t put our fingers on what it is about us, but we aren’t giving up. We aren’t letting it go. We are asking questions. We are who we are. We’re wildcats. We’re a school, and we always improve. We are journeyors. We’re an oversized, messed up, lost, searching family.

We are our purple brothers and sisters beside us. We are different, and we ask the tough questions everyone else is afraid to ask.

We are Northwestern.
